Our business was completely unplanned. We were just trying to create less waste in our own lives.

After leaving Minnesota for college, we started noticing how much trash we saw everywhere, and how little of it was actually being recycled. It was one of those things we couldn’t unsee. So we started making small changes, using reusables where we could, and questioning a lot of the “this is just how it is” systems around us.

At one point, we even went back and forth with our campus café for months just to get them to allow us to use our reusable coffee cups. It was a small win, but it showed us that change is possible when you actually push for it.

As we kept trying to reduce how much trash we made on a daily basis, we started making our own products ourselves. Simple, natural, and plastic-free alternatives to things we were already using every day. We shared them online (on our sustainable lifestyle account @sustainyrself) not thinking much of it, and followers began asking if they could buy them.

That’s really how this started.

Everything we make now is still rooted in that same mindset: less waste, quality ingredients, and products that people rely on for their daily routines.

None of this would exist without the community that’s supported us from the beginning, and we are endlessly grateful to have that trust and support, even today, with a growing market with endless options.
